Your miner starts hashing to your own wallet. If it finds a block, the reward is yours alone.

Be your own bank Rated 5.0 out of 5I was honestly shocked by how well this little thing performs. It’s been running non-stop for weeks with zero issues. I added a even bigger cooler and the second fan and run it up to 2.2 TH/s is just...
Rated 5.0 out of 5Nerdaxe that delivers 1.2 TH/s! I've been waiting for this upgrade for a long time. Absolutely worth it!
Rated 5.0 out of 5I have other miners before but they are too big and too loud. Bitaxe is very small but work very good. No noise, no problem, I like it a lot!

Continue readingA solo miner works on its own block instead of joining a pool. If it finds a block, the full reward goes to your own Bitcoin address. With a small home miner the odds are very low, comparable to a lottery ticket that never expires. People run them to learn, to support a decentralised network and for the thrill. Small miners do find blocks from time to time.
Far less than most people expect. A NerdMiner runs on about 1 watt, a Bitaxe Gamma on about 17 watts and a NerdQAxe++ on about 70 watts. For comparison, a classic light bulb uses 60 watts.

If the words "Bitcoin mining" make you picture a roaring server rack that heats up the room and doubles your electricity bill, that is fair. For years, that was the reality. The open source miners we sell were built for the opposite. A Bitaxe is about the size of your hand, runs as quietly as a phone charger and connects to your home WiFi in a few minutes. You do not need a spare room, a noisy setup or any background in mining to start.
Bitcoin home mining used to mean noisy machines, high electricity bills and hardware that required serious technical knowledge to set up. The open source mining community changed that. Starting with the Nerdminer in 2023 and growing into the Bitaxe, Nerdaxe and NerdQAxe families, it has built a new generation of miners that sit on a desk, connect to home WiFi and run on a fraction of the power of a phone charger.
We were there from the beginning. Nerdminer Store opened shortly after Bitmaker, the creator of the Nerdminer project, released the first version out of Spain. We have been stocking, testing and supporting open source mining hardware in Europe ever since.
What makes this community worth being part of is not just the hardware. It is the idea that the Bitcoin network should be spread across thousands of small miners running in homes, not concentrated in a handful of industrial facilities. Every device we sell is a small contribution to that goal, and we think that matters.
If you are new to all of this, our Bitcoin Mining for Beginners guide explains how it works and which hardware to start with.
