Twice the chips, one device, one cable.
The middle of the range
People who already run a single chip board usually reach the same conclusion: the setup works, the noise is fine, and they want more hashrate without a second miner on the shelf. The Bitaxe 801 is exactly that step. Two BM1370 chips, 2.15 TH/s, one 12 V supply and one AxeOS dashboard to look after.
What it costs you in power
At about 43 W the board works out to roughly 20 J/TH. That is less efficient than a single chip running gently, because two chips sharing one cooler run warmer, and warmer silicon is thirstier. It is still well inside what most people are willing to leave running.
A note on the name
The manufacturer sells this board as the Bitaxe GT. We list it as the 801 because the number says more about where it sits: above the single chip boards, below the four chip devices. The hardware is unchanged.

Is this the same board as the Bitaxe GT?
Yes. The manufacturer calls it the GT, we list it as the 801. Same two BM1370 chips, same firmware, same hardware.
Should I buy this or two single chip miners?
Two separate boards give you slightly better efficiency and two independent devices. The 801 gives you one power supply, one cable and one dashboard. Most people who ask this question end up preferring the single device.
How loud is it next to a Bitaxe Gamma?
Noticeably louder. Forty three watts through one heatsink means the fan works harder than it does on a fifteen watt board. It is still a desk device, not a machine you have to banish.
