Eight BM1370 chips, 12 TH/s at 200 W: the most powerful air-cooled home miner in the store

The NerdOctaxe Rev 3.1 is the strongest air-cooled miner in our range: eight BM1370 chips, 12 TH/s at 200 W. It is an open-source design from the Open Source Miners United community, built as one board with one power input, one display and one AxeOS dashboard.

Eight chips on one board

Eight BM1370 ASICs, the chip generation of the Antminer S21 Pro, hash side by side on a single board. At 200 W that works out to about 17 J/TH, so the step from four chips to eight adds hashrate without giving up efficiency.

Cooling and noise

The Rev 3.1 is air cooled and is designed to run quietly, with fan speed following chip temperature in AxeOS. Two hundred watts of heat still need a spot with airflow, not a closed cupboard. If the room has to stay silent, the NerdOctaxe Hydro moves the same heat into a water loop.

What it costs to run

About 200 W around the clock is roughly 144 kWh a month. At 30 cents per kilowatt hour that is about 43 euro a month; your own tariff decides the rest. Anyone buying a miner this size should do that sum first.

Display and dashboard

The 1.9-inch colour display switches between three views: mining performance with hashrate, power, temperature and efficiency, the Bitcoin price with system stats, and pool statistics with shares and difficulty. Everything else, from pool settings to firmware updates, lives in the AxeOS web interface on your home network.

Who it is for

For solo miners who want the most hashrate one air-cooled device can deliver and have a ventilated place for it. If twelve terahash is more than you need, the NerdQAxe++ is the four-chip board of the same family.

Setup

Built-in Wi-Fi on the ESP32-S3: power on, join the network the miner opens, enter your Wi-Fi, pool and Bitcoin address. Our NerdQAxe setup guide applies to the NerdOctaxe as well. Hashrate, power and efficiency of every miner side by side: miner comparison.

NerdOctaxe Rev 3.1 has been running for a couple of months without needing much attention. In practice I appreciate the eight BM1370 chips and the big step up from the smaller NerdAxe boards. I use it more as Bitcoin infrastructure than as a profit machine.
