What is in the box
- NerdOctaxe Hydro, assembled and tested
- 12 V / 20 A power supply (250 W)
- Quick start guide
Fourteen terahash in a living room, not a container.
What eight chips change
Hashrate is your ticket count in the block lottery. A single chip board buys you one ticket at a time; the NerdOctaxe Hydro buys about eleven times as many as a Bitaxe Gamma. The odds for any one device are still long, which is the nature of solo mining, but the difference between one and fourteen terahash is real.
Heat is the actual problem
At 220 W this device puts out roughly as much heat as a small electric heater. Air cooling that on a desk would mean fans loud enough to end the experiment. The water loop carries the heat to a radiator, where a large fan disposes of it slowly and quietly. In winter that heat warms the room it stands in.
Running costs, honestly
Two hundred and twenty watts around the clock is roughly 1.9 megawatt hours a year. At 30 cents per kilowatt hour that is about 580 euro a year in electricity. Anyone buying a miner this size should do that calculation first; nobody should expect the block reward to cover it.
Setup
Like every device in the family, the Hydro runs AxeOS. Connect power, join the network it opens, enter your Wi-Fi and your Bitcoin address. Everything after that happens in a browser. The NerdQAxe setup guide applies to this model as well.
Customer reviews
Rated 5.0 out of 5 19 Jul 2026NerdOctaxe Hydro est installé à la maison.
Rated 5.0 out of 5 26 Jun 2026NerdOctaxe Hydro sits in the utility room. For that location I particularly appreciate the eight BM1370 chips and the roughly 14 TH/s hashrate. I would not choose hydro for a first mining device. No regrets so far.
