NerdQAxe++ Setup Guide

The same steps apply to the NerdQX, the NerdQAxe++ Hydro, the NerdOctaxe Hydro and the NerdQAxe Copper Pro.

1. Power your NerdQAxe

• Plug the device into a reliable power source using the power supply and cables provided.

The screen will display:

CONFIG Wi-Fi PORTAL SSID: Nerdaxe_XXXX

2. Connect to the NerdQAxe Wi-Fi

• Open the Wi-Fi settings of your phone or laptop.
• Find and join the network Nerdaxe_XXXX.

3. Open the setup dashboard

• After connecting you land on the main page of the user interface, the AxeOS dashboard.

4. Enter your settings

In the dashboard:

• Open the Settings tab.
• Enter a hostname for your device, or leave the default if you are not sure.
• Enter your Wi-Fi details
  Wi-Fi SSID: the exact name of your home or office 2.4 GHz network
  Wi-Fi password: the password of that network

Double-check for typos: your NerdQAxe will not connect unless both are exactly right.

• Unless you have a preferred mining pool, keep the preset public-pool.io for the easiest setup.
• In the Stratum User field, enter the Bitcoin address where you want mining rewards sent.
  We recommend a SegWit address that begins with bc1q
• Optionally, append a worker name after the address: bc1qyouraddress.workername (for example NerdQAxe).

5. Save and restart

• Once you have filled in all the details, click "Save" to store your configuration.
• Click "Restart" to apply the new settings.

6. Start mining

• The NerdQAxe now joins your Wi-Fi network.
• Within moments the device begins mining on its own.

Dashboard values explained

• Hashrate: in TH/s. It moves around from minute to minute; the average over an hour is the value to compare with the product page.
• Power: the draw of the board in watts. On a NerdQAxe++ expect about 70 W, on a NerdOctaxe Rev 3.1 about 200 W.
• Temperature: chip temperature. If it climbs steadily, check the airflow, and on a Hydro model the pump and the radiator.
• Shares: work submitted to the pool. Shares arriving means the pool connection works.
• Best difficulty: the highest difficulty share found so far. A block needs a share above the current network difficulty.

Power supply by model

Every miner ships with a matching power supply. If you replace it, match voltage and current exactly; the wrong supply can damage the board.

Hydro models: pump, coolant, radiator

The NerdQAxe++ Hydro and the NerdOctaxe Hydro cool the chips with a closed water loop and a radiator instead of a heatsink and fans. Place the radiator where air can pass through it freely and watch the chip temperature on the dashboard after the first start. The setup in AxeOS is exactly the same as on the air-cooled boards.

NerdOctaxe: what is different

The NerdOctaxe Rev 3.1 is the strongest air-cooled miner in our range: eight BM1370 chips, 12 TH/s at 200 W. The NerdOctaxe Hydro runs the same eight chips water-cooled at 14 TH/s and 220 W with a 12 V / 20 A supply. Both use the same AxeOS setup as the NerdQAxe++; the difference is power draw and heat, so give them room and a socket of their own.

Good to know

• Set up your Bitcoin wallet: no wallet yet? Create one before you configure your NerdQAxe. A hardware wallet is the safest choice.
• Track your mining: to see whether your NerdQAxe is mining, open public pool and paste in your Bitcoin address.
• Display pages: tap the bottom button on your NerdQAxe to scroll through the info screens and mining stats.
