Frequently asked questions

Ordering and payment

Which payment methods do you accept?
Bitcoin and Lightning through our own BTCPay Server, credit and debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and bank transfer. Bitcoin payments get 5% off, deducted at checkout.
How does the 5% Bitcoin discount work?
Choose Bitcoin at checkout and the discount is taken off the order total right away. You then get a BTCPay invoice that you can pay on-chain or over Lightning. Pay within the time shown on the invoice; after that the invoice expires and the order is cancelled automatically. The discount cannot be combined with a discount code.
Do the prices include VAT?
Yes. Every price is in euros and includes VAT. Delivery cost and delivery time for your country are shown on the product page, in the basket and again at checkout, before you order. Outside the EU your customs authority may add import duty and local VAT on delivery.
Can I change or cancel my order?
If you have not paid yet, simply do not pay: unpaid orders expire on their own. If you have paid and the parcel has not left, write to us with your order number and we cancel and refund. Once the parcel is on its way, the 14-day right of withdrawal applies.
What is a pre-order and when does it ship?
Some devices are listed before the first batch arrives. The product page shows the shipping date, you pay when you order, and your device leaves in the order the pre-orders came in. A pre-order can be withdrawn like any other purchase.
Do you offer bulk or reseller pricing?
Yes. For larger quantities or for resale, write to us with the devices and quantities you have in mind and we send you an offer.

Shipping and delivery

Where do you ship from, and where to?
From our warehouse in the EU to all of Europe, and by express worldwide. Orders placed before 14:00 on a working day leave the same day, always with tracking. Your country is not offered at checkout? Contact us and we check whether we can deliver there.
How long does delivery take and what does it cost?
South Europe 2 to 3 working days (8 EUR), Central Europe 3 to 4 (12 EUR), North Europe 4 to 5 (15 EUR), worldwide express 50 EUR. Working days count from dispatch. The exact figure for your country is on every product page and on the shipping page.
Will I have to pay import taxes?
Not inside the EU. For Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom and all express destinations outside the EU, your customs authority charges import duty and local VAT before or on delivery. Those charges are not included in our price.
How do I track my parcel?
As soon as we hand the parcel to UPS or DHL you get an email with the tracking number. The link also sits on your order page, which you reach from your order confirmation.

Returns and problems

Can I return my order?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw from the purchase without giving a reason, and that includes pre-orders. You may examine the device the way you would in a shop. You pay the return postage; we refund the purchase price and the standard delivery cost. The full conditions are in our returns policy.
How do I send something back?
Declare the withdrawal on our withdrawal page or by email with your order number. You get a confirmation with the time we received it, and the return instructions follow within one working day.
My device arrived damaged or does not work. What now?
Write to [email protected] or on Telegram with your order number and a short description. A photo or a short video helps a lot. We check it with you, usually the same day, and organise the replacement.
How is a refund paid out?
The same way you paid: to your card, your PayPal account or your bank account. Bitcoin payments are refunded in Bitcoin at the exchange rate of the day of the refund, to an address you give us.

Setting up your miner

How do I set up my miner?
Every device has its own step-by-step guide at the top of this page. In short: power the miner, connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network it opens, enter your home Wi-Fi and your Bitcoin address, save and restart. Ten minutes, no software to install.
Which Wi-Fi does the miner need?
A 2.4 GHz network with a normal WPA2 password. The miners do not see 5 GHz networks, and they cannot log in to hotel-style networks with a login page. A phone hotspot works fine, the data use is tiny.
Which Bitcoin address do I enter?
An address from a wallet you control, ideally a SegWit address starting with bc1q. A hardware wallet is the safest choice. Do not use a deposit address from an exchange: some exchanges change them, and a block reward would then go astray.
Which pool should I use?
All our miners come preset to public-pool.io, a solo pool: if your miner finds a block, the reward goes to your address minus a small pool fee. You can enter any other pool in the settings. With a LiquidBox you can run your own pool at home and cut the middleman out entirely.
My miner does not connect to Wi-Fi. What should I do?
Check that the network is 2.4 GHz and that the password is typed exactly, including capital letters. Set the miner up close to the router first. If it still fails, power it off and on, connect to its setup network again and repeat the steps. Still stuck? Send us a photo of the screen on Telegram.
Can I change the settings or overclock?
Yes. AxeOS lets you change pool, frequency, core voltage and fan speed in the browser. The stock settings are the safe ones; higher frequency or voltage means more heat, and you run that at your own risk. The Performance models and our upgrade kits are built with the cooling for it.
How do I update the firmware?
In AxeOS open the system page, download the latest release for your exact model from the project on GitHub and upload both files, the firmware and the web interface. Do not cut the power while it runs. Your settings survive the update.

What to expect from mining

What are my chances of finding a block?
Solo mining with a small miner is a lottery. Every ten minutes the whole network competes for one block, and a single home miner holds a tiny share of the tickets. If it wins, the full block reward, currently 3.125 BTC plus fees, goes to your address. Most home miners will never find one, and that is the honest expectation. What you get for sure is a real, independent piece of the Bitcoin network on your desk.
How much electricity does a miner use?
A Bitaxe Gamma or NerdAxe Gamma draws about 17 W, roughly 12 kWh a month. A NerdQAxe++ draws about 70 W, a NerdOctaxe about 200 W, and a NerdMiner about 1 W. In winter the heat is not wasted.
How loud are the miners?
A single-chip miner has a small fan you hear in a quiet room but not across it. The four- and eight-chip boards move more air. The water-cooled Hydro models and the NerdMiner are effectively silent.
How can I see that my miner is really mining?
The screen shows hashrate, temperature and shares. The web interface shows the same in more detail. On your pool's website, enter your Bitcoin address and you see the miner reporting in with its hashrate.
What power supply do I need?
Every miner ships with a matching power supply, so nothing else is needed. If you replace it, match voltage and current exactly: Bitaxe and NerdAxe run on 5 V, NerdQAxe and NerdOctaxe on 12 V with higher current, the NerdMiner on any USB port. The wrong supply can damage the board.
