One chip, four chips or eight

The name tells you the size of the board: a NerdAxe carries one chip, a NerdQAxe four and a NerdOctaxe eight. All of them run AxeOS, show their statistics on a colour display and connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

• NerdAxe Gaia: the new BM1373 chip, around 2.6 TH/s at 25 W. At about 10 J/TH the most efficient miner in our range.
• NerdAxe Gamma: one BM1370, 1.2 TH/s at 17 W, the compact entry model.
• NerdQAxe++: four BM1370 chips, 4.8 TH/s at 70 W. The NerdQAxe Copper Pro puts four chips on solid copper for tuning, the NerdQAxe++ Hydro cools them with a closed water loop and reaches about 6 TH/s.
• NerdQX: around 8 TH/s at 140 W, under a tower heatsink with a 120 mm fan.
• NerdOctaxe: eight BM1370 chips, 12 TH/s at 200 W. The NerdOctaxe Hydro reaches 14 TH/s at 220 W with water cooling.

How to choose

Power and heat

Every watt ends up as heat in the room. A single-chip NerdAxe uses 12 to 18 kWh a month, a NerdQAxe++ about 50 kWh, a NerdOctaxe about 145 kWh. Look at your tariff first, then at the hashrate.

Noise

Fans work harder as the power goes up. The NerdQX runs at about 38 dB. The Hydro models move their heat into a closed water loop, which keeps them quiet at high hashrate.

First miner or more hashrate

For a first miner the NerdAxe Gamma or the Gaia is the easy start: small, fine on a desk, set up in ten minutes. The four and eight chip boards make sense once you know you want more hashrate and have a place where heat and fan noise bother nobody.
